What is a bee safe neighborhood?​

A bee safe neighborhood is a community that has come together and pledged not to use neonicotinoid and systemic pesticides. Official designation, through the Living Systems Institute, is granted when 75 contiguous houses pledge

Why do we want to become a bee safe neighborhood?

We need to protect our bees. Bees pollinate our food, and without them we loose crops like cherries, and blueberries. In just the last ten years, over 40% of US bee colonies have suffered Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) which is thought to be caused, at least in part, by the wide-spread use of systemic, neonicotinoid pesticides.
